FAQs
Solar Power Plant
Modules are installed outdoors to face the sun. Rainwater does not affect performance because the solar cells are sealed within waterproof modules.
Maintenance is minimal. Periodic cleaning to remove dust and debris helps keep output at optimal levels.
There is no subsidy available for utility-scale SPV plants. Various states offer incentives such as exemption from open access charges, feed-in tariffs, tax benefits, and accelerated depreciation under their state schemes.
4-6 months.
Total project cost per MW is typically in the range of Rs. 6.5 crores.
The useful life of a typical solar power plant is around 25 years. This is the duration used for long-term PPAs and financial models. Many solar panel manufacturers guarantee 90% output at 10 years and 80% output at 25 years.
The land required for a 1 MW power plant is around 4.5-5 acres for crystalline technology. This is a rough benchmark and may vary by technology and panel efficiency.
On - Grid Solar Power Plant
According to the India Meteorological Department, Rajasthan has around 320 days with 5-7 sun hours. For calculation, we take 300 days and estimate an average of 5 units per day from a 1 kWp grid-connected system.
Annual Generation = 5 units X 300 days = 1500 units/KWp
About 12 sq.m of area is required to set up a 1 kWp grid-connected rooftop solar system.
The rooftop solar systems from 1 kWp up to 500 kWp (or in combination) can be set up on roofs.
There are provisions of concessional import duty/excise duty exemption, accelerated depreciation and tax holiday for setting up of grid connected rooftop power plants.
In a solar rooftop system, the solar panels are installed in the roof of any residential, commercial, institutional and industrial buildings. This can be of two types (i) Solar Rooftop System with storage facility using battery, and (ii) Grid Connected Solar Rooftop System.
In grid connected rooftop or small SPV system, the DC power generated from SPV panel is converted to AC power using power conditioning unit and is fed to the grid either of 33 kV/11 kV three phase lines or of 440/220 Volt three/single phase line depending on the capacity of the system installed at institution/commercial establishment or residential complex and the regulatory framework specified for respective States.
These systems generate power during the day time which is utilized fully by powering captive loads and feed excess power to the grid as long as grid is available. In case, where solar power is not sufficient due to cloud cover etc., the captive loads are served by drawing power from the grid.

Hybrid Solar Power Plant
Such rooftop systems can be installed at the roofs of residential and commercial complex, housing societies, community centers, government organizations, private institutions etc.
Such rooftop system has battery as storage facility. The solar electricity is stored in the battery and can be utilized during night also when the sun is not available.
Solar Biogas Plant
Timelines vary by capacity and civil work, but most systems are commissioned within 8-16 weeks after site readiness.
Biogas for cooking, heating, or power generation, plus organic manure as a valuable by-product for soil enrichment.
Food waste, agricultural residues, manure, and other biodegradable organics are suitable. We evaluate feedstock quality and volume before sizing the system.
Solar Water Pump
Solar pumps run on sunlight and help reduce diesel or electricity costs.
- The cost of operation and maintenance of solar pumps is negligible
- Useful for water pumping in remote areas without grid power.
The different types of pumps are:
- D.C. surface centrifugal pumpset
- D.C. submersible pumpset
- D.C. floating pumpset
- A.C. submersible pumpset
- Any other type of motor – pump set, as approved by MNRE
A solar PV water pump consists of a photovoltaic array and a compatible motor-pump set. Sunlight generates DC electricity to run a DC pump or, with an inverter, an AC pump.
Solar Street Light
LEDs can run up to 100,000 hours. In most solar lights, the LED is not designed to be replaced.
We use LED (light-emitting diode) lamps. CFL options are also available in some systems.
The batteries are charged by sunlight through the solar panel. Before first use, keep the unit switched off and place it in direct sunlight for 3-4 consecutive sunny days.
Solar lights need direct sunlight. The more sunlight received during each day, the longer the light will operate that night. Since solar lights are powered entirely by the sunlight they receive each day, operating times will vary by specific location, daily weather conditions, and season. Many of our solar lights can run for up to 8-10 hours. As a general rule, solar lighting performs better during the summer months mainly because the longer and sunnier days enable a full charge to be achieved. Adverse weather and short winter days do affect performance, as charge times are reduced in relation to hours of daylight and the strength of the light.
Components typically include solar panels, controller, battery, LED light, pole, and housing. Some systems also include an inverter.
Solar modules convert sunlight into electricity. The controller regulates charging, and the battery stores energy. When needed, the battery supplies DC power or AC power via an inverter. The system stops only when the battery is fully discharged after extended low sunlight.
Solar lighting is safe and environmentally friendly because it does not require an external power supply. Installation is simple, wiring is minimal, and it is suitable for remote areas. Operation is cost-free since it uses sunlight.
